The blue taxi stopped in front of the hotel.
After paying, Kendall got out of the car, carrying her suitcase.
Before she was taken back by the Hansen family, Kendall lived on campus during the initial years and would find part-time jobs during the holidays to support herself.
She didn’t have a place to stay in Orapolis City, so Kendall planned to stay in a hotel until she could find a new place.
After checking in, Kendall took her room card and walked into the elevator. A tall man also entered the elevator with her.
Kendall didn’t pay much attention, just stepped back after pressing her floor. Her room was on the fifth floor, he pressed for the ninth.
As he reached out to press the button, Kendall noticed his hands. His fingers were long and clean, his knuckles were well-defined, and the back of his hand was large, with a beautiful bone structure.
Kendall couldn’t help but look at them a few more times.
The elevator doors slowly closed.
The elevator slowly ascended. When it reached the fourth floor, it suddenly shook twice.
Kendall’s body swayed, and an ominous feeling rose in her heart. ‘It can’t be, right? I can’t be that unlucky, can I?’
Kendall looked up.
Plink!
The lights in the elevator went out.
This was the first time Kendall had ever been in an elevator malfunction. She grabbed the handrail with one hand and took her phone out of her pocket with the other. Using the light from her phone screen, Kendall moved over to press the button. The elevator didn’t react, so she immediately moved her finger to the emergency call button.
She didn’t know if the elevator was going to fall or if anything else would happen, so Kendall stayed alert, never letting go of the handrail. She used her phone to dial an emergency number, clearly stated her exact location, and then hung up to wait for help.
Although this was a hotel elevator and someone would definitely find the problem, it was better to get out as early as possible to avoid any other mishaps.
But… why was it so quiet in the elevator?
Where was the person who had just gotten in with her? Why wasn’t he making a sound?
Kendall turned on her phone’s flashlight and looked around.
She couldn’t see anyone! How could a man that tall just disappear?!
Her expression changed.
She glanced down from the corner of her eye and finally saw a figure crouched in the corner.
“Hey? Are you okay?” Kendall asked. The man was curled up in a ball, his head buried in his knees. He seemed to not have heard Kendall’s question.
If she looked closely, she could see that his body was trembling slightly.
Kendall’s eyebrows furrowed, and the words ‘claustrophobia’ immediately popped into her mind.
> [Huh? Host, where are you?]
The system’s drowsy voice rang out in Kendall’s mind. It subconsciously scanned Kendall’s surroundings, and its voice immediately became surprised.
> [Wow, who is this person crouching in the corner? A friend of the Host? Where did the Host meet this person? His heart is so pure, his good and evil value is actually zero!]
“I don’t know him. I just ran into him in the elevator,” Kendall said concisely. “What is a ‘good and evil value’?”
> [The good and evil value is the most direct way to measure a person’s character.]
> [The higher the good and evil value, the greater the person’s chance of committing a crime.]
> [The good and evil value of an average person is usually around two to five points, which means they get angry occasionally. People who are petty thieves are usually around ten points, and murderers are usually eighty points or more, which is the evil stage.]
Kendall said “Oh,” indicating that she understood.
The system was amazed as it looked at the man’s data.
> [The Host was a bit violent today, the type to seek revenge on the spot, so your good and evil value is three points. But this person… his good and evil value is zero! This is the first person with a zero good and evil value that this system has encountered since I came out of the factory!]
If it had a physical form, it would definitely circle the man a few times to study him with such curiosity.
Kendall, who was not interested in the man at all, suddenly became a little curious about him because of the system’s surprised voice.
‘A good and evil value of zero!’
‘Didn’t that mean he didn’t have a single bit of anger?’
Seeing that the elevator buttons were still unresponsive, Kendall moved over and poked him. “Are you okay?”
